In Response To: CAPE not calculated? (Scott Dennstaedt)

It looks like CAPE and CIn have been missing from Op20 and Bak20 soundings shown on the RUC soundings page (http://rucsoundings.noaa.gov/) for some time. This was due to a change in the level names used in the model output files (in grib format).

We believe we've corrected the problem and that correct CAPE and CIn values from Op20 and Bak20 are now shown in the soundings (as text, in the upper right of the sounding). These are not surface values, but the 'best' values from the lowest 300 mb of the atmosphere.

Thanks to Scott Dennstaedt for noticing and reporting the problem.

Please let me or the forum know if you happen to see other issues in the RUC model soundings display.
