Scott, it turns out that the CAPE and CIn for the interactive parcel (iCAPE and iCIn) were only being calculated for the portion of the sounding that was visible in the plot. Because you'd zoomed in on the lowest portion of the plot, the iCAPE value you saw left out all the potential energy from layers above what was shown on the plot. We've now adjusted the code so that iCAPE and iCIn are calculated for the entire sounding, regardless of what is displayed. The new code is now available at the regular RUC soundings site at http://rucsoundings.noaa.gov/. (You can get to it at other URL's as well.) If you're using Firefox/Netscape/Mozilla, you may have to hold down the shift key while clicking your browser's 'reload' button to get the new code.
