Stan, I should have mentioned that we are using the 20 km data. Even still, the fields appear to be smooth, and MM5 does not diagnose strong enough vertical motion. I was unaware that the WRF SI supports ingest of RUC data on the native coordinate--we'll probably begin working with that. Thanks very much, Todd
