Time Series Surfrad-Model Statistics Change Details

9-Dec-2015 (beta only)

USING THE 'daily' TABLES: These tables of daily sums provide much faster long-term averaging, BUT have some limitations:

• They only work for the HRRR and RAP_130 models
• The maximum date is 7 Dec 2015
• They only work for 1D or longer averaging
• The ONLY stats that work are
  • Bias
  • RMS
  • MAE, and
  • N
• Do NOT combine 'daily' and non 'daily' statistics with 'plot matching' (you can use 'plot unmatched')
• You can use 'plot matching' IF both models use 'daily'
• If results look bogus, they probably are. Please let Bill know if you see anything amiss.

Changed the state for station 'Hanford' from WA to CA. Routine(s) changed: CurveParameters. Also changed the entry in table surfrad.stations.

7-April-2015 (production and beta)

Corrected temporal averaging (except diurnal averaging) so that the time window is symmetric around the output time. For instance, for 1h averaging, the 13Z output will take all input valid times between 12:30 and 13:29. This minimizes, but does not completely eliminate, temporal offsets in the averaged output. Routine(s) changed: get_surfrad_ts_stats.cgi.

Added statistics: bias, rms, std, and MAE. Prepared the user interface for displaying errors, but haven't implemented that yet. Routine(s) changed: get_surfrad_ts_stats.cgi, CurvesControl, CurveParameters.

• (Earlier this month) added RAP_dev{1,2,3}_130 models.
• Corrected color rotation on difference curves
• Corrected difference curves to not treat a missing datapoint on the first curve as a zero value.
