hi John- Regarding the duplicate surface height records, the HRRR "surface" file is appended to the "pressure level" file, and we realized very close to the implementation date that some parameters were duplicated. We scrambled to remove duplicate entries, but we missed that one. As you noted, the two surface height records are exactly the same. The 1000 mb height records are trickier. Record 592 is the 1000 mb height that has been adjusted using sea level pressure reduction techniques; record 533 is the unadjusted value. We recommend using the adjusted field (record 592). We plan to stop generating the unadjusted 1000 mb height when we upgrade to HRRR Version 2 later in 2016.
