Hi Jonathan, you can look at the skin temps under plots (try SE US) at rapidrefresh.noaa.gov -- that will give you a good idea of the land/water index. I can see that Lake Marion is there in S.Carolina. Remember that the RAP grids made available by NCEP have been interpolated to a different 13km grid from the native 13km RAP grid. RAP 1h forecast of 2m temps were up into the low 90s around Lake Marion. This topic is sufficiently complicated that it may be better to deal with via email.
