Thanks for the info. I have programmed the date-time stamp into my php code, but that's not the real issue. When I attempt to access the png file, it is often "not found" using the full qualified path name. For example,

http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/hrrraviation/from_jet/hrrr/t3/2012112608/flru_t3sfc_f05.png

is the full path, but that file really doesn't exist in the 2012112608 directory. Instead, according to Brian Jamison the images on the main HRRR page are not generated on the fly, but rather copied on the fly from a computer that does not have public access. This is a problem if you are trying to access a file independently of the RAP/HRRR website. Unless I'm missing something...
