Hello, There was a problem today with RASS temperatures from Hillsboro, KS that was not fully removed by different QC algorithms in the operational RUC. This resulted in an anomaly in 500 hPa heights (and other levels) at 12z and some other analysis times. The Hillsboro RASS obs data has been removed from the feed to NCEP for now. QC in the parallel RUC (http://wwwt.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/ruc2/para/ ) in real-time testing did a better job on this data problem. Apologies to all who this affected. Stan Benjamin
