Location of sounding

Got a question concerning the posted location of the sounding. I realize that when you create a sounding at an airport, you are getting the closest grid point instead of the actual location of the airport, unless the two coincide. Just want to clarify the location you put on the diagram label.

If the diagram says "3.5nm/45° from ABC" does that mean the sounding represents the closest grid point that is 3.5 miles to the northeast of BWI or to the southwest of BWI?
