To Jack Glendening and other RUC users,

NCDC will begin an effort to get the 13km native RUC data analyses stored in NOMADS -- will post again as more becomes available on this. Thanks to Jack Glendening for pointing this out in his previous post.

The archived fields there are limited -- e.g. no cloud water, no ice/snow, no soil temps, etc. -- which reduces their usefulness (among other things, the data is not sufficient to initialize a WRF model run). This is not the case for the NAM (12km) data archived there, which contains many more parameters. Do you know of any plans to upgrade that archiving?

Thanks to the work of Glenn Rutledge and others at NCDC, the RUC 20km data is now available at the NOAA NOMADS data archive at http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov. The data available are the 20km isobaric-25mb (with ~90 2-d fields) fields.

The link to the RUC data is shown under http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov/data.php?name=inventory
