Rob,

In response to your question,"What are the differences between the "Operational 13km" RUC and the "Development 2 13km" RUC? I notice the CAPE fields are significantly different." ---

The operational 13km RUC and development (FSL version) 13km RUC are using the same code, but with slightly different observations available at NCEP vs. those at FSL. That can produce some differences in the plots from the oper RUC13 vs. the FSL RUC13.

For the CAPE plots now on the RUC web products, the oper RUC13 is now showing the surface-based CAPE (a new field for the oper RUC13), whereas the FSL RUC versions are showing the best CAPE. We will fix this plotting over the next week, and correct the captions. Sorry if this caused any confusion for you or any viewers. Thanks for writing.
