HRRRv4/RAPv5 implementation-12z today

Hello all. New versions of the HRRR(v4) and RAP(v5) and model/data assimilation systems were implemented at NWS/NCEP today (2 Dec 2020) at 12z, replacing the previous HRRRv3/RAPv4 systems. HRRR-Alaska is also upgraded to HRRRv4-Alaska. HRRR now has better data assimilation (3km ens), better t-storms, snow, near-sfc winds, clouds. It also includes smoke as a 3-d predicted variable, affecting radiation and boundary-layer evolution, using VIIRS/MODIS fire radiative power to update fire locations. HRRRv4 now runs out to 48h every 6h (extension from 36h). More information is available at http://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/hrrr and https://rapidrefresh.noaa.gov/pdf/Alexander_AMS_NWP_2020.pdf.
