I need to clarify Stan Benjamin's earlier response. PRIOR to the implementation date, there will be a 30-60 day period during which NCEP Central Operations runs HRRRv4 in parallel (and makes it available on paranomads) while HRRRv3 continues to run in operations. That is the overlap period that will take place and is done for all model upgrades. But what was done after the GFSv15 implementation was a special situation (the replacement of the model core) and will not be replicated for the RAPv5/HRRRv4 implementation. When HRRRv4 (and RAPv5) are implemented, HRRRv3 and RAPv4 will no longer be available.
