IP diagnostic in HRRR

Hello, the ice pellets diagnostic was corrected in Jan 2014 for the ESRL RAP and HRRR such that IP is now diagnosed under appropriate conditions, with an unrealistic threshold now corrected. This corrected IP diagnostic is being used now in the NCEP operational HRRR, but not yet in the RAP-NCEP. With today's East Coast winter storm, IP is clearly showing up in the HRRR precip-type forecasts. More information is available at http://ruc.noaa.gov/rr/RAP_var_diagnosis.html#ptype.
