Geopotential Height - Geodetic Model

Dear NOAA, I'm working with the Rapid Refresh and RUC weather products. My project requires converting the "geopotential_height" variable into geometric height as defined by the WGS-84 model. What geodetic model reference is used by "geopotential_height" variable for RAP and RUC products? For example, does the model assume EGM-96, EGM-84, WGS84? Any additional documentation regarding the vertical coordinate system geodetic model would be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Chris
