access to experimental RAP grids from NCEP/NCO

[message below from Geoff Manikin - NCEP/EMC] All- NCEP Central Operations is now reliably running the Rapid Refresh in preparation for the implementation which will likely occur now sometime in late February. I strongly recommend that users switch to using their data feed for their testing purposes: ftp://ftp.ncep.noaa.gov/pub/data/nccf/com/rap/para/ My ftp directories will still have data from the EMC parallel, but the NCO version will be more reliable, as they are not subject to the same outages that developers must face. In addition, the timing of the availability of the files will be much more reliable than my version, and NCO can store files for longer than I can. For all users who use DBN alerts to get the files, note that I will be turning off the alerts on the EMC parallel this Tuesday (1/10) at 15z. NCO will activate the alerts in their parallel at the same time. -Geoff M.
