Changes to the non-java soundings display

Greetings, today we made some updates to the page that provides non-java images of RUC soundings, at http://rucsoundings.noaa.gov/gifs/. First, default model names have been updated to be consistent with current usage: -- The model that was referred to as 'MAPS' is now called the 'Bak40' to indicate that it is the backup RUC, run natively at 13km, and interpolated to a 40km grid (for more rapid access). -- The model that was referred to as 'RUC-2' or 'RUC2' is now called the 'Op40' to indicate that it is the operational RUC, run natively at NCEP at 13km, interpolated to a 40km grid. Requests for soundings using the old names will continue to work; the new names are more descriptive of what the models are, and less ambiguous. Second, when a sounding image appears, there are links beneath the SkewT plot that enable you to display soundings valid 1, 2, or 3 hours later (if available). These links should make it easier to access soundings, particularly if you've bookmarked a page that brings up current soundings for your site(s) of choice. (This was initially requested by a prize-winning sailplane pilot who brings up these plots on his iphone.) Please let me know if you encounter any issues due to these changes. -Bill
