Scott, thanks for uncovering an error in the routine that finds pre-made soundings, such as those we save a RAOB sites and particular airports. When an analysis sounding for a given valid time is not available, the code looks for the sounding with the shortest forecast projection available for that valid time. In your example, there was no analysis sounding available for 0Z on Jan 8th, so the code looked for a forecast. Unfortunately, that part of the code had a bug, which I believe I've now fixed. Now, you should get the 1h forecast valid at 0Z on Jan 8th. Thanks again for the feedback--that's how we make things better.
