Eric,
Sorry for the huge delay in responding -- there are no new CAPE values planned for the RUC, but the RUC CAPE is already close to the intent of the 'new' Eta CAPE field. There is only one RUC CAPE value, and it is a best CAPE calculated from the max moist static energy parcel in the column BUT after the lowest 7 RUC levels (lowest 45-55 mb) have been averaged.
The 1km helicity is a good idea and we have it now on a list for an addition before next spring.
