There have been no RUC grids on the OSO server since last evening, as many of you have already noted. The RUC backup continues to run with no problem at FSL, but there were hardware problems at OSO and a failure of one of the Cray J90s at NCEP. NCEP is now trying to set up a direct ftp from FSL and then populate the OSO ftp server with the RUC grids, but that is not yet working as of a few minutes ago.

The NCEP status messages under the index on the RUC/MAPS homepage (maps.fsl.noaa.gov) had some of this news, but I see no updates there since 1320Z.

The web products at maps.fsl.noaa.gov for the RUC backup are up to date, even if nothing else is.
