Message: Units of soil moisture

Hi there,

According to the GRIB table, the soil moisture
volumetric moisture content (grib number 86)
for the MAPS/RUC output is in units of kg/m^2.

Is there a misprint? Since the variable is
the volumetric moisture content, should it not
be kg/m^3?
