Our RUC soundings usually match the RAOBS quite well, but
are not perfect all of the time. I would think the location
and strength of the convection vs. any precipitation forecast
in the RUC might have quite an impact on local winds and
dewpoints. What forecast were you looking at? (1h, 3h, 6h
or 12h?)
