Message: comparison between 0Z RAOB sounding and RUC-2

Posted by Lincoln Foreman on 7 Jul 99, 21:31 MT

Hi. I recently plotted both the 0Z RAOB upper air sounding and the RUC-2 sounding for the Lake Charles, LA location in RAOB4.0 and noticed that the temperature profiles were pretty similar between the RUC-2 sounding and actual observation but the dew points were pretty dissimilar, as were the wind predictions made by RUC-2. Is this typical. LCH was experiencing pretty strong convection when I made the comparison so maybe that has an impact. In general, are the RUC-2 profiles and RAOB sounding in pretty good agreement? Thanks.
