A much larger volume of GOES precipitable water (PW) retrievals is now being assimilated in the RUC, due to changes over the last 2 weeks. During the week of 16 Nov, the time window used by the RUC data ingest was increased from 30 to 60 mins for GOES retrievals, and at 12Z on 24 Nov, the GOES-10 retrievals were added to the RUC (along with the Eta and AVN analyses).

Now, from 1500-2800 retrievals are being assimilated hourly as can be seen in the RUC-2 obs count page from the RUC home page. Previously, perhaps only 1200-1500 retrievals were being assimilated every 12 hours, so this is a very substantial increase. Thanks to Dennis Keyser at NCEP who set up these changes.
