Phil, Both of these problems will be solved at the same time. As stated in forum posts from several months back, they wait for a little more processing power at NCEP, which will come along with the upgrade of their main computer over the next several months. This processing of 4,5,7,8,10,11 h output times and BUFR station files could be done easily on a small workstation in a few minutes, but such machines at NCEP are already packed with other stuff.
