Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Glasgow MT
255 PM MST Sun Jan 14 2024 .DISCUSSION... Bitter cold continues with a Wind Chill Warning remaining in effect till 11 am tomorrow (Monday). Will then transition to advisory conditions, but did not do that with this package. Night shift will have a better handle on that. Next thing of concern will be the snow that moves into the SW zones late Tuesday into Thursday. Amounts will be nearing 6 inches but the time line will be too long for Watch/Warning concerns. Advisory looks to be more likely. Models have not handled temperatures 100 percent the past couple days. But clouds do move in tonight that should keep too places from reaching -40. Have been leaning more with NBM10 for temps through at least Tuesday. Warmest area has been in the SE zones where snowcover is thinest or non-existent. Later in the week, upper ridge moves in and and an increased surface pressure gradient may push some of this arctic out. Current NBM likely too optimistic. NBM10 takes most places to 20 not till Sunday. TFJ && .AVIATION... UPDATED: 0815Z CAT RANGE: VFR, possible MVFR for KSDY DISCUSSION: Quiet weather is expected for all TAF sites.
