Updated aviation portion for 06Z TAF issuance
.SHORT TERM...Tonight and Wednesday
Issued at 233 PM CDT Tue May 11 2021
High pressure will settle in across the western Great Lakes region
tonight and Wednesday. Afternoon clouds will give way to clear
skies tonight with the loss of daytime heating. This, when
combined with light winds, will lead to another cold night across
northeast Wisconsin. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the
20s across the north, with lows around 30 across central
Wisconsin, and 30 to 35 across east-central Wisconsin. These cold
temperatures will mean another round of Freeze Warnings and Frost
Advisories across the area. Tonight the Freeze Warnings will be
across the north and portions of central Wisconsin, with Frost
Advisories east to the lakeshore.
Wednesday looks to be a bit warmer with some modest warm air
advection and a bit less clouds as the high starts to drift east.
High temperatures on Wednesday are expected to rise into the 60s
across most of the area except near the lakeshore.
.LONG TERM...Wednesday Night Through Tuesday
Issued at 233 PM CDT Tue May 11 2021
Continued frost potential will linger into the end of the work
week, followed by rain potential arriving late in the weekend.
High pressure will slowly edge east late in the work week, but
frost potential is likely to linger northwest of the Fox Valley
and lakeshore areas Wednesday night, and over northern WI Thursday
night. Mainly dry conditions should prevail through Saturday or
Saturday night.
A wetter pattern is expected to arrive later Sunday into Sunday
night, and linger into the early part of next week. The best
chance of rain should occur Sunday night into Monday, as an upper
level trough moves through the region. Instability looks weak at
this point, so will hold off on any mention of thunder for now.
High temperatures look to remain in the 60s for much of the
extended period. Low temperatures will start off in the 30s and
lower 40s, then moderate into the 40s to around 50 range later in
the weekend/early next week.
