.SYNOPSIS...
Scattered snow showers will slowly diminish across the region this
evening, as a Pacific cold front exits the area. It turns drier
for Thanksgiving Day, along with seasonable temperatures. On
Friday, gusty west winds will develop by the late afternoon over
the Rocky Mountain Front and northern Plains, with the strong
winds continuing into Saturday.

.UPDATE...
Fresh snow on the ground and scattering sky condition behind the
front favors temperatures a bit colder than originally forecast.
Reduced overnight lows, accordingly. Increased max Relative
Humidity (RH) values to come in line with max RH values observed
during the forecast period. Additionally, fresh moisture at the
surface in coincidence with radiational cooling favors areas of
patchy fog; so, allowed for the formation and continuation of fog
during the overnight hours and into tomorrow morning in some areas.
The forecast of all other weather elements is looking good;
therefore, no other changes will be made at this time.

.PREV DISCUSSION...
/ISSUED 520 PM MST Wed Nov 25 2020/
Tonight through Saturday...The Pacific cold front continues to
push eastward through the region this afternoon. Northwest to
northerly winds behind the front will slowly shift back around to
the west overnight. Scattered snow showers will continue to move
southeastward through the region. Any new snow accumulations
through this evening will generally be less than 1 inch. Drier air
moves back into the region tomorrow, with the mostly dry
conditions and seasonable temperatures continuing into the
weekend. Gusty west winds are forecast to develop on Friday
afternoon and then continue into Saturday morning over the Rocky
Mountain Front, Cut Bank and Shelby areas. With wind speeds
forecast near high wind criteria, a high wind watch has been
issued for these regions from Friday afternoon thru Saturday
morning. There is the potential the high wind watch could be
expanded a bit further east and southward.
Sunday through Wednesday...Overall, a fairly quiet weather pattern
is expected over our region for late this weekend through the
middle portion of next week. Afternoon temperatures will generally
be near or just above seasonal normals for most areas. Little to
no precipitation is expected, other than a small chance for a

520 PM MST Wed Nov 25 2020 (26/00Z TAF period)
North, central and west-central Montana (KCTB, KHVR, KHLN, KGTF)
Expect VFR conditions at all airfields throughout this TAF period.
Gusty winds are forecast, with low level wind shear conditions
included in the KCTB, KHVR and KHLN TAFs. Expect the associated
turbulence. Lingering mountain showers are forecast. Expect mountain
obscuration and aircraft icing conditions.
East-central to southwest Montana (KLWT, KBZN, KEKS)
Begin this TAF period with predominant to intermittent MVFR
conditions, becoming VFR after 26/03Z to 26/04Z. Gusty winds and low
level wind shear conditions are included in the KLWT TAF. Turbulence
will impact aviation operations across the central Montana region.
Expect mountain snowfall and mountain obscuration. Additionally,
icing conditions are forecast.
