PREVIOUS FORECAST DISCUSSION:
A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect for the majority of
Northeast Montana through Monday morning. Areas along the Canadian border have been upgraded to a Wind Chill Warning for wind chills as cold as 45 degrees below zero Monday morning. Snow will spread across Petroleum County this evening and continue through tonight. Look for a general 2 to 5 inches of snow, highest accumulations across the southern portion of the county. Southern Garfield County will also see a bit in the way of snow accumulation tonight, but only a small portion of the county will be affected. The snow will taper off Monday morning but there will still be flurries or light snow showers around. As we head into Monday evening, a more widespread accumulating snow is expected. This will begin across Garfield and Petroleum Counties and spread north and eastward Monday night into Tuesday. This will bring an additional 5 to 8 inches of snow to Petroleum County, where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from this evening through Tuesday morning. Snowfall amounts of around 6 inches may also fall across southern Phillips County and much of Garfield County, thus a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for these areas. Will pass off to future shifts to either convert this watch into an advisory or warning. Additionally, advisory level snow on the order of 2 to 5 inches is expected across much of the rest of Northeast Montana by Tuesday afternoon. We will be on the periphery of a short wave ridge as the snow ends Tuesday into the middle part of the week. This will temporarily dry things out with continued well below normal temperatures. Yet another shot of Arctic air moves in towards the end of the week with additional accumulating snow possible across much of Northeast Montana. -Mottice && .AVIATION... FLIGHT CAT: VFR - MVFR DISCUSSION: VFR through most of the TAF Cycle. MVFR possible at the end due to lowered ceilings on the incoming snow storm. STORM SYSTEM: Near the end of the cycle a storm is developing with accumulating snow to the southwest. This will move in Monday evening into Tuesday. Snow will approach KGDV Monday evening and expand to the other terminals overnight, so expect rapidly deteriorating conditions down to IFR once the snow arrives Tuesday morning. COLD: After the drop off at sunset this evening, highs will not rise above zero until after Tuesday or Wednesday. This will cause problems for light aircraft and terminal equipment. WIND: Northeast at 10 knots or less through tonight. Turning easterly Monday afternoon. -Mottice/GAH && .GLASGOW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
