Forecast Discussions mentioning any of

PREVIOUS FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Extremely cold temperatures were observed for second day in a row
across Northeast Montana early this morning. An Arctic air mass
moved across the region with temperatures falling between 35F to
40F below zero. Winds chills were as low as -60F in some areas.
A relatively warmer trend is anticipated for the next couple of
days, with temperatures falling in the -20F to -25 range. For next
week, temperatures are expected to be above zero for the first
time in almost 10 days.
A storm system is expected to move across the region on Saturday,
but most of the snowfall is expected across the western zones with
snowfall accumulation between one to two inches. Another system
will quickly move across the area on Monday.
In the long term, slightly below temperatures with little
precipitation is expected as a high pressure system builds across
the region. FGC

FLIGHT CAT: VFR-IFR
DISCUSSION: With an arctic airmass settled in, moisture over-running
the arctic has generated low clouds and scattered snow showers
through the cycle. Ceilings will be VFR-MVFR, while snow showers
can briefly generate IFR visibility with their passage. Snow being
light is confusing many of the sensors across the region which are
occasionally registering as UP. In addition steam from local town
buildings has been able to generate HAZE and reduced visibility
at the surrounding airports the last couple nights. This may
occur again tonight though is less likely as the temperatures have
risen in comparison.
WIND: east to northeast around 10 kts or less through tonight and
Saturday.
EXTREME COLD: Temperatures are not forecast to rise above 0*F
until Monday. This will cause equipment problems for aircraft and
ports.
